The London Design Festival:

Studio aisslinger set sail towards the heart of Soho to turn London´s old brick facades into a vivid concept of the „home of the future – part 2“. From 14 – 22 September 2013 design gallery 19th Greek Street showed its most colourful face to all visitors of the London Design Festival.

19th Greek Street is dressed in textile. The most sustainable and long-living woven colour fields of Kvadrat did not only survive one process of up-cycling in 2013 for „the home of the future“ at Museum Haus am Waldsee (Berlin). Since they are still in best shape they returned on stage, changing their proportions and coating the brick facades of West London in a pixelated colour gradient. With athletic vitesse Studio Aisslinger gave a new shape to the old Waldhaus Museum facade, adjusting it to London´s needs.

Aisslinger`s concept does not propagate renovation or construction in existing contexts but a temporary aesthetic upgrade. London´s rainy autumn streets transform into a lively make-over for the London Design festival.

The future does not lie in the invention of something new but rather in the reinvention of the old. This up-cycling and tuning is the focus of product designerWerner Aisslinger. The museum “Haus am Waldsee” in Berlin exhibited Aisslinger’s ideas for the “Home of the Future” in 2013.
